This riding route, Carretera de Sa Calobra, was built in 1932 manually without the help of any machine. Carretera de Sa Calobra (the Colubrid route) includes the infamous Nus de Sa Calobra, a curve of 360 degrees. It is one of the most famous curves in the world, turning 270 degrees and going under itself.

The Carretera de Sa Calobra is one of the most dangerous roads in Spain specially on rainy days. It has more than 50 sharp bends on short stretch of road, some sections lack a central road line or guard rails, lots of traffic in summer, but the road is impassable for more than two cars at many sections
How many kilometres is it / How long does it take to ride it? The road designed by the Spanish engineer Antonio Parietti, is only 13 kilometers long. The driving time from one point to another is usually about 25 minutes.
Are there any accommodation or camping options along the way? There are plenty of hotels and accommodation in Mallorca. You may find motorcycle friendly accommodations in Port de Pollença, Balearic Islands. There is also a private place to stay at the foot of Serra de Tramuntana.
Interesting sights on the route? Carretera de Sa Calobra is one of the most visited places in Mallorca. It is the place where the Torrent of Pareis flows into the sea, through some really spectacular walls which cut the mountain in a natural way. Sa Fosca is a subterranean point where the torrent of Lluc unites with that of Pareis.
The road is an extension of the MA10 that is accessed between the municipality of Escorca and the artificial reservoir of GorgBlau (at the foot of Puig Major and Puig de Massanella), is a dead end road that ends in a parking lot Payment that gives to the beach of Tuent. Before reaching the beach you will see a cross to the cove of La Calobra , one of the most spectacular and tourist of the whole island of Mallorca.
What is the best time of year to travel the route? Winter and spring are the best seasons to ride; during summer, the road is choked with tourist buses and an early start is necessary to avoid them. However, the weather in early spring can still be chilly and the climb is exposed to the wind off the sea. Snow is also not uncommon, so come prepared.
Is the route ever closed over winter? Carretera de Sa Calobra is usually open all year. It is occasionally closed after snow in winter, but this is rare and does not happen most years.
Where are people able to get fuel when they are riding the route? The nearest petrol station you can find in the area is in Escorca, Illes Balears.
