The Evo Triangle (Betws-y-Coed Triangle) is one of the UK’s best riding routes covering the A5, A543 and B4501. With its name coming from EVO Magazine who regularly use these roads to test drive cars for magazine features, it is a triangulation of three roads forming a neat loop across glorious open countryside between Betws-y-Coed and Rhuthin. Each road has its own unique character, making the journey as much about driving contrast as it is about performance and stunning scenery (sheep aside). The route starts on the A543 (just off the A5) heading north and enjoys tight and sweeping bends and wonderful scenery. Turning right onto the B4501 takes you on to some nice long sweeping bends with views of the LlynBrenig Lake. The road then leads back to the A5 (going through the village of Cerrigydrudion) and back to where you started.
How many kilometres is it / How long does it take to ride it? The Evo Triangle is a 20-mile ride through rugged Welsh countryside and rolling moorland so it should take you around half an hour to ride it.
Are there any accommodation or camping options along the way? There are various forms of accommodation along the way if you wish to spend some extra time in this area. Motorcycle friendly accommodations are located in the nearby towns of Betws-y-Coed and Conwy.
Interesting sights on the route? Llyn Brenig, Alwen Reservoir and Llyn Bran are great places to stop along the way because it’s a great fishing and walking spot. The Clocaenog Forest extends through most of this part of the route which makes a quite sight as well as clean, fresh air. One of the most popular attractions also is the local Cerrigydrudion Church.
What is the best time of year to travel the route? The roads on the Evo Triangle are very busy at weekends due to its popularity. Drop by early in the morning on a weekday to enjoy this road at its best.
Where are people able to get fuel when they are riding the route? Petrol stations can be found on the A5 stretch in the Cerrigydrudion village.
