Description

Strada della Forra, located in Tremosine, Province of Brescia, is widely considered to be one of the best motorcycle roads in Italy. Linking Tremosine with the districts of Pieve and Vesio, this mountain road nestled along the side of the mountain by Lake Garda, burrowing through the ravine formed by the river Brasa.

Strada Della Forra inaugurated in 1913 is also known as Provincial Road 38 or Street of the Gorge. It was considered the 8th wonder of the world by Winston Churchill whereas Frankfurter Zeitung called it “the most beautiful road in the world.”

This twisting road also features in its fair share of film and scenes, such as breath-taking James Bond Quantum of Solace car chase and commercials for the European market of prestigious car manufacturers such as BMW and Mercedes to name a few.

How many kilometres is it / How long does it take to ride it?
Strada della Forra is a short but very impressive road, only 10 km long and driving will only take less than half an hour.

Are there any accommodation or camping options along the way?
Strada della Forra is a legendary scenic drive and a top tourist attraction in the beautiful Tremosine district. When visiting the route, the localities in Tremosine offer the widest set of options when it comes to accommodation.

Interesting sights on the route?
Strada della Forra route is a famous tourist destination because it overlooks the Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy and is a popular holiday destination. It is a best place for a relaxing holiday where sailing, windsurfing, kitesurfing, rowing and kayaking are hugely popular here.

Pay a visit to La Limonaia del Castel, a nearby attraction to understand Limone’s town history. This interesting museum is full of all kind of citrus trees with great views overlooking Lake Garda.

Ferrari di Monte Baldo and Riva del Garda are also known tourist destinations for a relaxing summer holiday.

What is the best time of year to travel the route?
Try to visit in the off-season (late September to early June) as prices drop and crowds disappear. During peak season, traffic on the main roads circling the lakes can be bumper-to-bumper.

Is the route ever closed over winter?
The route is usually passable all year round however please be advised that, if you were to stay in the region at this time, the ferry and boat services only run on a limited schedule over winter.

No luck on a chopper, but a nice view above the Ha’il bivouac at the #dakar2023 after the previous day’s flash flooding on the stage. #dakar #dakarinsaudi
Get to the chopper! Trying to hitch a ride (unsuccessfully) on one of the #dakarrally2023 choppers. Still have time …. #dakarinsaudi #dakar #advrider
As the sun sets on another day of the #dakar2023, @mariopatrao_oficial, in the #originalbymotul class has some work to do before the rally move on to Riyadh. #dakarrally #dakarinsaudi
Navigation is a huge part of the #dakarrally. This is the tower on #39 @benjimelot in the #originalbymotul. #dakarinsaudi
The #dakarrally is a constant hive of activity. #dakar2023 #dakarinsaudi
Much respect for the #originalmotul class riders in the #dakar2023. Each night they service their own bikes while the others rest.
Very jealous of anyone at the Dust 2 Dawson at the moment. Managed to get there a few years ago and had a great time.
