The DL1000 V-Strom is a dual-purpose sport tourer that offers a lot for its small price tag. The bigger brother of the DL650, this V-Strom has a bit more punch and is better suited to those riding with pillions. The bulletproof engine is great at mid-range, and is ideal for extended highway riding.

Some models suffered an issue with the ECU, resulting in poor engine performance in low gears, making city riding extremely difficult. A recall in 2014 fixed this issue however, and most bikes these days should be fine.

It performs well off road also, though is outclassed by other bikes that are more suited to the dirt. However, if you’re looking for a trusty steed to take you on a long road adventure, the DL1000 is difficult to beat – especially if you’re riding two-up.
