Maps for motorcycle touring in Southeast Asia as as useful as anywhere else in the world. While our smartphones threaten to outwit us, sometimes you can’t beat a good old fashioned map, especially the GT Rider variety. They are the Southeast Asia specialists and all GT Rider maps have been properly surveyed on the ground using a GPS and are accurate for the following:
- Precise distances in km
- Road classifications
- Names of villages & towns
- Local attractions
- City Maps
- Elevation profiles and topography
- They are ultra sturdy laminated plastic maps and won’t let you down when the wifi runs dry in the mountains!
Some of the routes they cover include:
- The Golden Triangle
- Mae Hong Son Loop
- The Mae Sa Valley Samoeng Loop
- Laos PDR Map Guide
We used their map for the Mae Hong Son Loop in Northern Thailand a couple of years ago and found it particularly useful for accommodation suggestions and detours.
GT Rider also have a great site and forum for planning rides throughout Southeast Asia, which is well worth a visit before you head out there.
